"Our region is rightfully considered one of Russia's largest centers for health and medical tourism. It possesses unique natural resources and well-developed infrastructure. Our pride is the renowned federal resort of Belokurikha, which annually welcomes around 300,000 guests and offers an extensive range of therapeutic procedures and rehabilitation programs," Tomenko stated.
The primary natural therapeutic resource of the Belokurikha resort is nitrogen-silica mineral water with low radon content. It is used to treat conditions of the digestive system, urinary tract, and musculoskeletal system.
Currently, 17 sanatoriums operate in Belokurikha. The largest facilities include Belokurikha, Rossiya, and Altai-West. The city administration has announced the launch of an AI-powered chatbot to assist resort visitors.
According to the Altai Region Department of Tourism and Resort Development, a five-star wellness center is scheduled to open in the "Belokurikha Gornaya" (Mountain Belokurikha) cluster in 2025, followed by a thermal complex, restaurants, and entertainment infrastructure. The facility is expected to accommodate approximately 33,000 visitors annually. Total investment in Belokurikha sanatoriums is estimated at 9.5 billion rubles, with 50 billion rubles planned for the region's tourism cluster in the coming years.
